Macro Blocking

Janelle Gibson and Aran Wilkinson-Blanc

Closing reception: 7–10 p.m. on Friday, November 14

Macro Blocking is an exhibit by two local photographers, Janelle Gibson and Aran Wilkinson-Blanc.

Janelle Gibson works with photography, printmaking, and video to investigate cultural and perceptual shifts. Gibson studied media arts in Rotterdam, The Netherlands for a semester, and completed her BFA at the Alberta College of Art & Design in 2004. She received the Bars N Tone award from Emmedia (Calgary), and attended Vidfest (Vancouver) after winning the first place award for her innovative digital photography.

Aran Wilkinson-Blanc is a local artist specializing in photography—analog, digital and synthetic as well as video, film, audio and animation and printmaking. Throughout his exploration in these varied disciplines is a continual questioning of the mediums, from their inherent procedural and technical aspects to shifting social interpretations. He is interested in the concepts of "photorealism," jolie-laide and wabi-sabi.
