About our Main Gallery

Untitled Art Society uses the common area of its studio space (on the fourth floor of 319 10 Avenue SW Calgary) for juried Main Gallery exhibits throughout the year, interspersed with non-juried Barewalls exhibits and events. These Main Gallery exhibitions run for 2–3 weeks, and can be viewed during their opening receptions, on Fridays from 12–4 p.m., or by appointment with either the Gallery Coordinator or the exhibiting artist(s).

About the EPCOR CENTRE +15 Project Window

The Plus 15 pedestrian network is a system of above-ground walkways connecting commercial and public buildings in Calgary's downtown core. A series of display windows in the +15 walkway in the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts (at 205 8 Avenue SW) are used as exhibition spaces by local artist-run organizations. The Marion Nicoll Gallery, The New Gallery, TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary,  and Stride Gallery. Our window space is approximately 4 meters wide by 1.5 meters deep by 2 meters tall. Its exhibitions are in place for a period of two months, and are viewable to the general public during the EPCOR CENTRE's regular building hours. Note: While the EPCOR CENTRE does not censor exhibits in this display, it asks that exhibitors be sensitive to the fact that the Plus 15 is a public street open to all ages, and that viewers may experience the work without having made the choice to participate, as they would upon entering a gallery.

Barewalls Program

We accept proposals for Barewalls exhibits, events and activities year-round. Each month, Untitled Art Society’s Main Gallery [see above] has a week-long vacancy between its juried exhibits during which groups and individuals can use the space for other arts-related exhibits, events or activities. These can include, but are not limited to: non-juried exhibits, photographic documentation of artworks, temporary studio-space use, presentations, critiques, classes and fundraisers.The Society's Barewalls Program makes this space available free of charge for non-profit activities; rental fees for ticketed, fundraising or other for-profit events are $100 per day or 10% of the profits raised, whichever is less.

Bookings are made at the discretion of the Barewalls Coordinator on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact
barewalls@untitledart.org for availability.

A floor plan (PDF) is available here.

Barewalls Facility Access:

Events scheduled to run after 5 p.m. on weekdays and/or on weekends, involving staggered rather than one-time entry by six or more individuals, require landlord approval. If access of this nature is required, the Untitled Art Society will negotiate event approval with the landlord. A lead-time of two weeks is needed. If the landlord requests security hire as a condition of approval, the Society will make the arrangements through the building manager. Security services currently cost $15/hr. A cash payment for security services is required one week prior to the event. (After the event, the event organizer may submit a written request to Untitled Art Society for refund consideration of this security cost.)

Usage Terms and Conditions:

Untitled Art Society has limited resources available for Barewalls activities (i.e.: it is basically the space that is being offered up). Access to the space is semi-private, as it will be shared with our studio renters, darkroom users, members and staff. The condition of the space must be returned as it was found, and if necessary swept and mopped. The user of the space will be held responsible for any damages or theft. For security purposes: The event organizer must submit a signed copy describing the intended use of the space.Untitled Art Society will photocopy two pieces of valid ID and collect a signature from the event organizer as proof of understanding the above terms and conditions. The Society requires a refundable deposit of $40 for key and swipe-card access. To apply or for further information, please contact the society's Barewalls Coordinator: barewalls@untitledart.org.

The following individuals and groups have generously contributed to the Untitled Art Society artist residency fund:

* Dolores Maisonneuve and Gordon Haskins

* Kensington Riverside Inn

This was the first fundraiser of this kind held at the Untitled Art Society, and a contribution of $500 was, as a requirement of the fundraiser, donated to the Society as seed money for future residency funding programs. Over 50 works of art were generously donated and sold in a silent auction in support of the event. The Spring in France fundraiser was a great success, and helped fund a portion of Dawn's residency cost.
